The mechanism seeks to directly reduce the wholesale price of electricity by imposing on the power purchase units that will benefit from the mechanism, the obligation to cover the production cost of certain plants in excess of the natural gas reference price set by the Spanish Goverment. Also noteworthy in the package of measures adopted is the modification of the specific remuneration system, reintroducing the adjustment for market price deviations that Royal Decree-Law 10/2022
El mecanismo persigue reducir directamente el precio mayorista de la electricidad imponiendo a las unidades de adquisición de la electricidad que se beneficiarán del mecanismo la obligación de sufragar los costes de producción de ciertas centrales en lo que excedan del precio de referencia del gas natural fijado por el Gobierno. En la batería de medidas adoptadas destaca, además, la modificación del régimen retributivo específico, reintroduciendo el ajuste por desviaciones del precio de mercado que había eliminado el Real Decreto-Ley 6/2022.
